A chilling scream echoed through the crowded courtroom as former President Nicolas Maduro and his wife Cilia Flores made their first appearance since their January arraignment in a New York court. The scene was tense, with supporters and opponents of the Venezuelan leader packed outside the Manhattan courthouse, churning out chants and beating drums in a cacophony of sound. But what would happen next would be anyone's guess, as Maduro's lawyers argued that the U.S. was violating his constitutional rights by blocking Venezuelan government money from paying his legal fees.
